The Builder
I am a master's student studying Media and Broadcast Production at Queen's University of Belfast.
I completed this project as part of the module Interactive Media. The purpose was to design an interactive media project and publish it onto a developed website.

Timeline
1st- 5th of April
Securing location
While I decided that I wanted to centre my project on Trim Castle, it is a heritage site so I had to get permission from The Office of Public Works. In order to do so I had to send proof of insurance and sign forms.
5th- 18th of April
Writing the Script
At this time I had the location secured and I had to write the script. I had originally planned on being on screen and speaking to the camera so I was also taking this time to become familiar with the words. I also produced a shot list to make it easier for when I was shooting the scenes.
19th of April
Shooting Day
I went to county Meath the night before so that I was able to be in Trim at the castles opening times, 9:30am. I went with my dad who helped carry the bags. As mentioned above, I initially planned on being on screen, however on the day, the lapel microphone wasn't working and I had to come up with plan b. I decided to record a voice over later but this required me to film more footage than I originally thought. That being said I finished filming one day ahead of schedule, I had thought it would take two days to film however I had managed to get all my footage in the one day
20th- 25th of April
Sorting Footage
For the next few days I went through my footage sorting them into different folders on my laptop so that when I came to the editing stage it would be easier. At this time I also recorded my voice over.
29th of April- 2nd of May
Editing
The next step was to edit. I used DaVinci and made nineteen seperate scenes to later put into Verse. While I was editing I realised that my project was too short so I had to add in extra scenes. Thankfully, I had enough footage so I did not need to go back to Trim and instead just had to record more voice overs.
10th- 16th of May
Finalising
I put my short video clips into verse and created this website
Aims and Objectives
The aim of this project is to produce and develop an interactive video. I decided to create a video documentary style as that is the area that I would like to work in in the future. I chose Trim Castle as it is near my house and despite it being one of the most impressive medievals in Ireland, it does not get the recognition it deserves. Trim is an incredibly fascinating town steeped with history. My aim was to create an engaging and educational piece on the castle and surrounding grounds.
Target Broadcaster
The target broadcaster for this production is Nationwide on RTÉ. Nationwide is extremely popular and brings viewers all around Ireland showing them events and fascinating spots to visit. They promote Irish culture and history plays a big role in what they do. I think this project would be perfect for this programme as they prefer shorter productions. it is also centered around history and culture.
